Prices of Ukrainian products are higher than for imported ones
Ukrainian cheesemakers continue to raise prices for their products. This is due to the constant increase in the cost of raw milk.
This was reported by the company "INFAGRO", which specializes in research and analysis of the Ukrainian and world milk markets.
Prices on cheese will increase in Ukraine
Experts note that leading producers plan to raise cheese prices by 10% in December. At the same time, they emphasize that large retail chains take a tough position and are reluctant to make concessions to suppliers.
"Therefore, cheese factories will have to accumulate losses for some time, because raw materials have already risen in price by more than 40%," the experts explained.
It is also said that Ukrainians are unlikely to be able to find quality cheese for the festive table for less than 400 UAH ($9.60) per kilogram.
Analysts believe that the demand for cheese will not disappear, but the volume of purchases will be smaller. The cost of importing European cheeses is significantly lower than the cost of domestic products, which gives European suppliers an advantage. This will likely lead to the fact that during the holidays, part of the Ukrainian market will be filled with European cheese, leaving less room for domestic producers.
"The difference in price with Ukrainian "Dutch" cheese is so impressive that chains cannot help but take advantage of it and will import more goods," the company "INFAGRO" summarized.
What else is worth knowing
It should be recalled that the price of a borsch set increased significantly in 2024. Vegetables, which are usually affordable, showed a record increase in prices. This is explained not only by problems with the harvest, but also by a number of economic factors that led to an increase in the price of potatoes, carrots and onions.
We also wrote that when choosing dishes for the festive table for Christmas and New Year, Ukrainians take into account food prices. Since products traditionally become more expensive at the end of December, housewives are looking for ways to save money. By analyzing prices in supermarkets, you can find economical options for products from which you can cook all the usual festive dishes.
