Retired at 45 — who is eligible for an earlier deserved rest

In Ukraine, citizens can retire at the age of 60, 63, or 65, depending on their insurance record. However, it is possible to retire earlier for some professions.
This is stated on the portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).
Who is eligible for an earlier retirement
Retirement pensions are granted to certain categories of citizens who work in occupations that result in the loss of the ability to work. The conditions for granting and the length of special service required to receive such a pension depend on the person's profession or position and the relevant legislation.
Early retirement is available to military personnel if two conditions are met:
- At least 25 calendar years of service at the time of dismissal.
- Insurance period of 25 years or more at the age of at least 45 years, with compulsory service of at least 12 calendar years and 6 months.
In addition to the military, early retirement is possible for certain categories of citizens if they have sufficient insurance record at the time of retirement.
Early retirement on the basis of length of service is possible for the following categories of citizens, regardless of age:
- Performing Artists — if the insurance period is from 25 to 35 years.
- Sportsmen — with at least 25 years of experience and participation in national teams for at least 6 years.
- Educators — at least 25 years of experience.
- Healthcare and social protection workers — at least 25 years of experience.
- Specialists in the aviation sector — men with experience from 25 to 26.5 years, women - from 20 to 21.5 years.
What else you need to know
As a reminder, the Pension Fund of Ukraine announced a guaranteed increase in the basic pension amount by 54%. This will be possible if the date of retirement is postponed by six years (72 months).
We also reported that the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zholnovych said that in March 2025 Ukrainians will receive a pension increase by the percentage of inflation. This applies to the category of citizens who retired a long time ago and whose pensions have not been updated for a long time.
