During the first nine months of 2024, the export volume of Ukrainian agricultural products increased by more than 25%, amounting to 9.9 million tons. At the same time, the value of exports increased by $1.4 billion.

This is reported by the press center of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

More about agricultural exports

In the first three quarters of 2024, Ukraine exported 48.9 million tons of agricultural products worth $10.5 billion, as the State Customs Service of Ukraine reports. The main factor in this growth was the restoration of sea transport, as a result of which 89% of all agricultural exports are carried out by sea. As for land transportation, exporters mainly have to use rail transport, while only 2% of cargo is moved by road.

Grain crops remain the main group of exported agricultural products: 42.3 million tons were exported for a total of $7.1 billion in nine months. Another important component of agricultural exports is seeds and fruits of oil plants, the volume of which amounted to 5 million tons, and their value reached $2.2 billion.

What is known about imports

The situation with the import of agricultural products in Ukraine demonstrates its own peculiarities. Thus, 80% of all imported goods arrive by road, about 18% by sea, and almost 2% by rail. This is mainly due to imports from European countries, while exports cover supplies from all over the world.

In total, imports amounted to 978.8 thousand tons of agricultural products worth $1.7 billion. Almost half of the imports are edible fruits and nuts, which amount to 468 thousand tons worth 563.8 million dollars. In addition, a significant part of imported agri-food products is vegetables — 194.2 thousand tons worth 246.6 million dollars, and oil seeds are the leader in value, which were imported for 346.5 million dollars (50.2 thousand tons).

Ukraine's agricultural sector is demonstrating steady growth, ensuring both stable supply of products to external markets and meeting domestic needs through imports. An important component of this process was the "Paths to Solidarity" initiative, which expanded opportunities for agricultural producers by creating alternative logistics routes.
