Despite the war, the tourism industry is developing in a number of regions of Ukraine. In the first half of 2024, the growth in companies' revenues reached 29% compared to last year.

Such data is provided by analysts of the YouControl.Market portal.

The situation in the tourism industry during the war

Analysts cite data from the State Agency for Tourism Development, which indicates that in the two quarters of this year, representatives of the tourism sector paid UAH 1.25 billion to the budget. The amount is a quarter more than the number for pre-war 2021 and 39% more than in 2023, when the budget received UAH 0.9 billion in the first half of the year.

In particular, last year, companies received 18% more net income compared to the pre-war year of 2021 — UAH 16.3 billion. Before the war, income amounted to UAH 13.8 billion in nominal terms in hryvnia. Last year, the 20 largest companies generated 36% of the sector's revenue.

"We see significant growth in the first half of 2024: the sector reached UAH 5.8 billion, which is almost 29% higher than the results for the same period in 2023," experts write.

According to analysts, the corresponding gain indicates an increase in tourist flows in the country, and this is due to the complication of traveling abroad for citizens, difficulties with logistics and communication.
